What do you get for spending the weekend at the gym?

I spent almost 24 hours in a Fitness First gym this weekend.  My results?

LOTS of sweaty clothes…

I think my bag of clothes weighed 3x more coming home than it did when I left the apartment in the morning.

At least 50 repeats of Danny Byrd’s “Daydreamer”…

[And we’re all daydreaming now – dun, dun, dun – dun, dun, dun!]

More bottles refills than I care to count…

I mostly drank water, but there was some Nuun and, in a pinch, 100Plus consumed, as well.

[You know your sweat glands work in overdrive when the guy – who weighs 150% of what you do – on the bike next to you suggests that the two of you are in close competition over who has dripped more sweat on the floor during the ride.  I think he won – but only by a few drops…]

And in the end:

Passed

Passed! But is it wrong that I want to take a red pen to that lower part?
“Physical execution and choreography ARE mastered.”

There are still more steps between me and a final certification, but this was the first big one.  I’m excited to brush up my own spinning skills, learn some more choreography, and (eventually) be released in front of a live class!

This weekend’s training challenged me as an athlete, a student, and a coach.  It also provided a place for me to connect with a room full of people for whom fitness is a passion and/or career.  Although I was pretty exhausted yesterday, both mentally and physically (Nadia was right when she suggested that I’d be getting awesome sleep on Saturday & Sunday nights!), today I am feeling recharged, energized, and thankful that I can help people get fitter – and change their lives – every day.

Good thing, too – because I have lots to do after spending all weekend hiding out at the gym.  I hope your weekend has left you feeling similarly recharged and ready to tackle the week!

The RPM 59 release is now seared into my brain – what’s currently stuck on repeat in YOUR head??

    Congrats on passing the first part of your certification and good luck tackling that mountain of stinky laundry! I have a similar pile in front of my washer right now!

      Personally, I’m just thankful that I HAVE a washing machine. Because doing all this by hand…would be a workout in and of itself! 🙂

      Hey hey! Look at that snazzy new profile pic and everything! Very nice! Juuust saw a whole pile of posts from you pop up in my Feedly; not sure why they weren’t there earlier, or if you just posted all at once – but I’m looking forward to getting caught up later today. 🙂

      Well, hopefully “fall off the bike” and “totally screw up choreography” aren’t on that list. Other than that, I think I’m set. =)

      As I said to Work in Sweats Mama – mostly, I’m thankful that I live in a time/place where washing machines are the norm! The laundry was, comparatively, very easy!

      Hi Reba! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂 I’d not heard of Johnny G. before, but *now* I realize why I’m not actually supposed to call Les Mills “spinning”. I suppose that “indoor cycling” is the more correct term?

      Did you ever end up teaching any classes? If so, what did/didn’t you like about it? As someone who’s moving forward with this process, I’m *very* curious to know!

    That’s exciting! I bet you will be a great instructor. Also, I kind of love seeing the huge puddle under the spin bike after a workout.

      Definitely proof of a workout done hard, for sure!

      But somehow, although I don’t mind the puddle under *my* bike that much, I definitely don’t like stepping through/around the puddles under everyone ELSE’S bikes! (whoops!)

    Yay how exciting!!! I bet you are going to be GREAT! I have those sweat contests in yoga all the time. I normally…unless I’m with my BIL, who is the sweatiest person I know. I bring him along just to feel better about myself sometimes 😉

      Hahaha! Maybe I’ll have to borrow your BIL sometime, too. Or you and I could just go together. I’m one of the sweatiest women I know. But heck, in a less humid climate, I’d be cooler than everyone else, what with all the evaporative cooling I’d have going on!!

      If you were here in person, you could see BOTH. It’s impossible for me to separate them. Actually, it’s pretty much impossible for me to separate sweat from ANYTHING in Singapore….

      But hey, on that note, if you ever happen to find your way out here, I’d find a way to smuggle you into a spin class. =)

      Yes, it definitely is. (If by taufufa you mean tau huey? Soya beancurd?) That’s one of my favorite snacks out here! Seriously – I never used to think that tofu was good…but southeast Asia *definitely* knows how to treat tofu right!!

    I can’t say that anything inspired me too much this weekend. I… selflessly decided to turn around early on a hike so my dog wouldn’t die? I guess that’s inspiring. That’s all I’ve got. This is why I need YOU to inspire me.

          Heh – Anyway, you need food to power the running, so it’s all good!

          Looks like you have a pretty full plate for the fall – but we’re not overlapping any races. Mostly racing in Singapore, for now. But I can’t wait to start exploring the area – outside Singapore. On my To Do list for this year of my life! 🙂
